Richard Derby, M.D. - Scientific Advisory Board - Dr. Derby is the Medical Director of the Spinal Diagnostics and Treatment Center as well as the CEO of Comprehensive spine Diagnostics Medical Group in Daly City, CA. He is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist who also serves as Associate Clinical Professor at the Stanford University's Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Derby is an active member of several professional societies including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, North American Spine Society (NASS), International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, International Intradiscal Therapy Society and is a Founding Member of the International Spinal Injection Society (ISIS). In addition, Dr. Derby is on the spine Universe Editorial Board and holds journal, editorial and review committee memberships for several professional publications including The Clinic journal of Pain, Spine, Pain Digest, The Pain Medicine Journal Club, and the Spine Journal. Dr. Derby has participated in more than 70 invited lectures, presentation and workshops and is a prolific published author. He completed his residency at the University of California at San Francisco after her received his Medical Degree from the University of California at Irvine. Dr. Derby completed his undergraduate degree at Stanford University. Jeffrey C. Wang, M.D. - Scientific Advisory Board - Dr. Wang is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and is the Chief of the UCLA Spine Service and the Director of the UCLA Spine Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Wang is also the Co-Director of the UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center and also runs his own basic science laboratory. Dr. Wang has been the recipient of numerous research grants and is currently involved in many clinical trials. Dr. Wang has authored numerous scientific papers and has contributed to multiple books in his field. Dr. Wang is an internationally recognized expert in the area of disc biologics and currently is serving on the Board of NASS. Jean-Jacques Abitbol, M.D. - Scientific Advisory Board - Dr. Abitbol is a practicing, board certified orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in the treatment of spinal disorders, and is a co-founder of California Spine Group in San Diego, CA. Dr. Abitbol is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Cervical Spine Research Society. He is the Past President the of the North American Spine Society (NASS) and Past President of the Federation of Spine Association. Dr. Abitbol is the author of more than 27 book chapters, has published 36 articles in peer-reviewed journals, has presented abstracts and exhibits, and is the recipient of numerous awards. He is a member of the Spine Universe Editorial Board and is an Editorial Reviewer for the journal Spine. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Abitbol was a Spine Fellow at Mt. Sinai and Toronto General Hospital through the University of Toronto. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at McGill University and earned his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in Canada. Donald J. Ponec, M.D. - Scientific Advisory Board - Dr. Ponec is Head of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA, co-founder of the San Diego Vascular Institute, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Ponec maintains a full time practice in vascular and interventional radiology including a particular interest in endovascular aneurysm repair, stent grafts, minimally invasive tumor therapy, treatment of cerebrovascular disease, embolotherapy for uterine fibroids and vascular malformations, and spine interventions, including pain management, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. Dr. Ponec serves on multiple advisory boards for device and protocol design and as National Medical Expert for Cordis Johnson and Johnson on a major vascular stent trial. He is the author of numerous scientific papers and book chapters, is a medical inventor and is principle or co-investigator on multiple FDA sponsored clinical trials. Dr. Ponec pursued his residency in radiology at the University of California San Francisco, where his interest in minimally invasive techniques led to fellowship training in interventional radiology at the University of California, San Francisco. He received his medical training at the University of California San Diego and completed his undergraduate studies in biological sciences at the University of Southern California. |
