Mr. Caviar is a successful life science CEO, general manager with senior functional management experience in marketing, business development, strategic planning, engineering/manufacturing and finance (Nasdaq CFO). He successfully led, raised, and negotiated 35+ partner and financial transactions for $2.5 billion in total deal capital. Mr. Caviar was responsible for commercialization/marketing and product launch for five branded products (Rx small molecule, medical device, and biologic/injectables). He is an accomplished senior leader in pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industry segments, with management/leadership experience in both public and private (venture and private equity) companies. Niv Caviar is the former CEO of Suneva Medical, CFO/CBO of La Jolla Pharma (LJPC: Nasdaq), VP of Bus Development and VP, Head of Dermatolgoy Marketing at Allergan. Mr. Caviar holds an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
Neville Alleyne, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer, Founder
Dr. Alleyne is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is the Director of the Orthopedic Spine Center at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA. Dr. Alleyne’s practice is focused on treating a broad spectrum of spinal disorders, and he has established a multi-disciplinary approach, using the latest minimally invasive techniques, to relieve pain and restore spinal stability and mobility. He founded and served as chief medical director for several start-up companies developing spinal barriers and instrumentation using pedicle screws, cervical plates and artificial discs, including ProSpine, NAS Medical, and Smartdisc Inc. Dr. Alleyne is the inventor on numerous published patent applications related to spinal methods and devices. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the California Orthopedic Association and the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Alleyne performed his fellowship training in total joint arthroplasty and spine surgery at Harvard University-Massachusetts General Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Alleyne completed his residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital in orthopedics and general surgery in 1988. Dr. Alleyne received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1983 and was an undergraduate at Columbia University in New York, NY.
Nick J. Manesis, Ph.D.

Dr. Manesis has over 27 years of experience focused on R & D in the Life Sciences space. He has successfully driven both new product and existing product activities for high profile companies as Allergan, CooperVision, and Hewlett-Packard Company. He has provided leadership and management to large cross-functional teams across multiple projects both domestically and internationally. He is a strong advocate of customer-supplier principles, both internally and externally. Dr. Manesis holds a Ph.D. In Chemistry and has expertise in biomaterials within the medical device industry.
Lamont Land, M.B.A.
Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Land brings over 20 years of life sciences industry experience emphasizing strategic brand management, global commercialization, global launches and commercial leadership working both within and outside of the US. Prior to SpineOvations, he was at Livanova (UK) leading the Marketing, HEPRA, Sales Training and Analytics functions for the company’s fastest growing region. Prior to Livanova, Mr. Land held strategic marketing and sales positions of increasing responsibility at Ipsen, Allergan, Sanofi, Schering-Plough and Pfizer. Through his leadership and execution across nascent markets, new therapeutic sub-categories are successfully thriving today as a result of mindful plans conceived and developed during his tenure. Mr. Land often looks to balance risks with opportunities and demonstrates an unrelenting desire to successfully penetrate challenged markets with the goal of delivering therapeutic innovation which can improve patients’ lives. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and M.B.A. degree from Florida A&M University with postgraduate studies from Columbia University, NY. He currently lives in London, UK.
Jessie Elchico, B.S, M.T., ASCP
Vice President, Quality and Compliance
Ms. Elchico has over 30 years of Quality Operations experience in the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries supporting recombinant proteins, vaccines, small molecules, oligonucleotides and drug/device combination products. She has been consulting for biopharmaceutical companies in QA and compliance and most recently was VP of Quality Operations at The Medicines Company supporting IONSYS®, a drug/device combination product. Prior to this, she joined AstraZeneca in Santa Clara, CA as Quality Site Head. She joined Polypeptide Laboratories as VP of Quality, US Operations in 2009. She joined La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company in 2004 as VP of Quality Operations and Analytical Development. Ms. Elchico spent 11 years at Chiron Corporation, the last 7 years as VP of Quality Assurance, BioPharma Division. Ms. Elchico received her BS degree in Medical Technology from the University of San Agustin, Philippines and completed her medical technology training at St. Peter’s General Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Catherine Thompson, Ph.D.
Vice President, Clinical Development
Dr. Thompson has extensive experience in drug and device development both within the pharma industry and as a successful consultant (founder of June Pharma Consulting, VP International Drug Development at BlueReg Pharma Consulting). She previously spent nearly 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry (Allergan, Eisai, Schwartz Pharma) where her roles included being responsible for global drug development programs throughout their lifecycle. Dr. Thompson has a proven track record in both development strategy and hands-on operational experience which has led to many successful agency negotiations and approvals. She has also authored many publications in peer-reviewed scientific/medical journals. Dr. Thompson received both her PhD and undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham and resides in France.
Gianfranco Bellezza, M.D.

Dr. Bellezza has founded and advised multiple medical device companies over his 35-year career in Europe and America. He has significant experience in hospital, healthcare and related legislation and has been a strategic advisor in clinical development, regulatory validation, certification, and marketing of innovative and disruptive medical devices. Dr. Bellezza is specialized in multiple areas of healthcare and related therapies, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, pain therapy, oncological surgery, interventional radiology, otolaryngology, tissue technology, biomaterials and advanced cell therapies. He founded 6 companies, has been CEO of 5 medical companies and served as European Clinical Director in 8 European and American medical companies. He is winner of several awards in the medical field and contributed to the exit of 6 companies. Dr. Bellezza received his medical training at Università degli Studi di Milano and resides in Switzerland.
